Music Graduate - Rochdale

Ofsted graded 'Good' school in Rochdale seek a Music Graduate to join the department on a full time basis for the remainder of the academic year.

The position is based in a large secondary school with state of the art facilities and a recent multimillion pound refurbishment. Due to this the school has excellent an excellent capacity for a Music Graduate to develop in a supportive environment with excellent teaching and learning provisions throughout the school. The school is rated 'good' by Ofsted with good behaviour throughout where the pupils rise to the high expectations of the Head teacher and the rest of the staff, promoting a positive learning and teaching environment within the school.

This is a great opportunity for a Music Graduate to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment and develop key skills needed to be a teacher whilst putting them into practise in an Ofsted graded 'good' school. Working within the Music department at this school will give you excellent transferable experience and would strengthen your application before considering applying for a PGCE or similar teacher training programme.

The successful Music Graduate will be employed until the end of the academic year. The role will incorporate working within the Music department providing support to the class teacher but will also have the opportunity to develop key skills in other areas of the school. you will also be required to support students on a 1:1 and group basis, assisting them with any learning related issues.

What does the role involve?

  • Providing 1:1 support and tutoring to students who require additional support in Music
  • Working closely with the teachers within the Music department (Supporting them with the setup of each lesson, assisting with planning and ensuring that everything is put away afterwards)
  • Working with small groups of identified pupils to raise attainment in Music
  • Covering classes in the absence of the class teacher in Music and other subject areas.
