Mentor for Students with Mental Health Difficulties

Date posted : 05/02/20
£9.50 - 11.00 per hour

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Do you want to support the most vulnerable and most at-risk students in your local community?

Have you discovered that you have a natural ability to engage with these types of students when others can't?

Do you have both of the above but don't have the experience or necessary qualifications?

If so, I might have the perfect career opportunity for you: Mental Health is losing its stigma and is being talked about but most people see this is something experienced with adults. Sadly, more and more students are being diagnosed with Mental Health problems such as anxiety, stress and depression. As teenagers are finding it particularly hard to wrestle with these emotions, it manifests itself as very challenging behaviour.

These students do not go to mainstream school. They are out of school as they just can't cope with mainstream education. This school has been purpose built and set up specifically for students with mental health difficulties. Firstly, there are fewer students: dozens instead of hundreds and there is usually one staff member to every two students. Most interventions are worked in breakout rooms on a 1:1 or small group basis. You are there to support the students with their academic and pastoral needs. Here are some more details.

You do not need any Mental Health qualifications but it would help if you have experience with children or vulnerable adults this would be desirable.

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30
  • Temporary on going basis but for at least two terms
  • Central Bath location
  • GBP9.50 to GBP11 per hour
  • Immediate start or after February half-term

This is a very niche role and I called talk all day about how it is run so I'd welcome you to contact me to register your interest and ask lots of questions. If you'd like to do this, please contact me on the details below and quote "Mental Health in Bath". I look forward to hearing from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training.
