Teaching Personnel are seeking dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Support Assistants to join our pastoral team for schools across the South West. This role will involve supporting students with a range of emotional and mental health needs, working alongside teaching staff, pastoral leads, and external professionals to ensure every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Promote resilience, emotional wellbeing, and positive engagement with learning.
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Always maintain safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

- SEN or Pastoral Leadership in schools
Qualifications & Skills
- A degree (or working towards) in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Education, or a related subject is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications such as Mental Health First Aid or Counselling Skills are advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic and calm approach.
Desired Experience
- Supporting children/young people in schools, youth services, or care settings.
- Experience of providing emotional/behavioural support.
- Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
