Maths Teaching Assistant- Stockport

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a large secondary school situated on the border of Stockport to source the support of a Maths Teaching Assistant in the new academic year. This position is ideal for a Maths graduate or someone with previous experience of Maths tutoring to work as a Teaching Assistant within a supportive Maths department:

  • Maths Teaching Assistant
  • Providing support within the Maths department both in classes and 1-to-1 intervention
  • Covering Maths lessons in the absence of the class teachers
  • School located close to Stockport with excellent public transport links

The role-

Due to the ambition of the Senior Leadership team of this very reputable school, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maths Teaching Assistant to join them on a full time basis in the new academic year. The incoming Maths Teaching Assistant will compliment the existing staff within the Maths department and have the opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers.

Your role as a Maths Teaching Assistant will be support all areas of the department such as in class support and working 1-to-1 with identified pupils. There will also be the opportunity to progress within the role by leading intervention sessions with small groups prior to exams. Further, in the absence of the Maths Teachers (e.g. courses, sickness absence etc) you will have the chance to supervise whole classes with pre-set work.

The school-

Our partner secondary school is larger than the average size secondary school with currently over 1,800 pupils on roll. Due to these vast numbers, the school has a much higher proportion of students who are known to be eligible for funding from the pupil premium and there are much higher proportions of students from minority ethnic backgrounds and who speak English as an additional language.

In terms of location, the school is situated on the border of Stockport and Didsbury. It is a short drive away from the M60 making it easily accessible from the areas of Wythenshawe, Cheadle Hulme and Reddish. There are also excellent public transports links (trams, trains and buses) that stop directly outside the school.

How to apply-

If you are passionate about raising the attainment of Maths and keen to work within a Maths department, please submit your full CV to Paul via the link below.

Alternatively, to discuss how we can support you to find a suitable role in education, please contact the Manchester South branch directly.
