Teaching Personnel is working with a specialist Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) school in Wandsworth to recruit a dedicated Maths Teacher. This role involves supporting students with challenging behaviour, helping them build confidence, numeracy skills, and a positive relationship with learning.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and adaptive Maths lessons (KS3 & KS4) tailored to students with SEMH needs.

  • Use a trauma-informed approach to manage behaviour and foster a safe, structured learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral teams to support students’ academic and emotional development.

  • Differentiate lessons to meet individual needs, ensuring all students can access and progress in Maths.

  • Contribute to a curriculum that balances academic achievement with social and emotional growth.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience in the UK.

  • Experience teaching Maths at secondary level, ideally within SEMH, PRUs, or alternative provision.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage disaffected learners.

  • Patience, resilience, and a passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

  • A creative and flexible approach to teaching, making Maths accessible and relevant.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
