Maths Teacher (NQT) - September 2019

  • Preston
  • 1 year contract - temp to perm
  • Full time

An over subscribed 'Good' secondary school in Preston are seeking a Newly Qualified Teacher of Maths to start in September on a temporary basis for 1 year. The school has a large catchment area, with a variety of pupils on roll (approx. 850)

The successful candidate must have experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 in a secondary school and have excellent classroom and behaviour management. It is also essential to have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) too.

This is an excellent opportunity to complete your induction year and there will also be a good chance of the school taking you on a permanent basis in September 2020.

Maths Teacher Role:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Maths lessons to inspire and engage KS3 & KS4 pupils
  • Mark work, give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupils' progress and development
  • Manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures
  • Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties. Maths Teacher Requirements:
  • Have a Bachelor of Education, PGCE or UK recognised equivalent teaching qualification * Have experience of teaching Maths at KS3/KS4
  • Have excellent subject knowledge and a passion for the subject
  • Be an inspirational role model; committed to their own learning and that of others
