Job description

Maths ECT – Full-Time – Manchester Area – September 2025 Start

A thriving and forward-thinking secondary school in the Manchester area is looking to appoint a motivated and reflective Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Mathematics. This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2025, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate following a successful year.

The school is proud of its inclusive ethos and places a strong emphasis on academic achievement and personal development. With a robust mentoring programme and tailored ECT induction support, it provides a nurturing environment for new teachers to flourish.

Role expectations and support:

  • Teach Maths to students in KS3 and KS4, including both foundation and higher-tier groups

  • Create dynamic, differentiated lesson plans that support a wide range of learning needs

  • Receive weekly coaching from your assigned ECT mentor

  • Attend regular CPD sessions on behaviour management, assessment for learning, and curriculum delivery

  • Be part of a collaborative department that shares planning, schemes of work, and resources

  • Have the opportunity to lead a maths-based enrichment activity or lunchtime club

The ideal candidate will be confident using data to inform their teaching and keen to embed mathematical fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving across their lessons. A background in using technology (e.g. Desmos, HegartyMaths) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
