Job description

Maths & English Tutor – Stockport (SK1)
Help young learners thrive with personalised one-to-one support.

Are you passionate about teaching core subjects but looking for something more flexible and rewarding than a traditional classroom role?

We’re seeking a dedicated tutor to support children and young people in the Stockport (SK1) area with one-to-one tuition in Maths and English. Pupils may be out of school for various reasons – whether due to medical needs, school anxiety, or other barriers to mainstream education – and your input could be key to helping them rebuild confidence and make real academic progress.

Tuition typically takes place either in the pupil’s home or in a safe, quiet public setting such as a local library. Sessions are fully tailored to individual needs and can range from early Key Stage levels through to GCSE preparation.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience supporting or teaching Maths and English (primary, secondary, or both)

  • Patience and adaptability, especially when working with pupils who may have missed significant learning time

  • A nurturing, encouraging approach that builds trust and engagement

  • Ability to plan and deliver focused, engaging sessions one-to-one

  • A current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

What we offer:

  • £25–£30 per hour (depending on experience)

  • Weekly pay through PAYE

  • Flexible working hours between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday

  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact outside of the classroom

  • Access to CPD and ongoing professional support

Whether you’re a qualified teacher, a former teaching assistant with tutoring experience, or an education professional ready for a new challenge – we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and be part of something truly meaningful in Stockport.
