Are you an ambitious and academically strong Teaching Assistant looking for an opportunity to make a real impact in Upper Key Stage 2?

A welcoming and supportive primary school in Skelmersdale is seeking a Level 3 Academic Support Assistant to work within a Year 6 classroom, supporting pupils as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. This role reflects the additional academic responsibility attached to supporting pupils in a crucial stage of their primary education.

The Role

Working alongside an experienced Year 6 teacher, you will play a key role in raising attainment and supporting pupil progress across the curriculum. The successful candidate will work with small groups of pupils as well as individual learners, delivering targeted Maths and English interventions designed to close gaps in learning and build confidence.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about education, enjoys working with older primary-aged children and is confident supporting pupils to achieve their full academic potential.

The Ideal Candidate

Applicants must:

• Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Have experience supporting or teaching pupils within Key Stage 2.
• Be confident delivering targeted Maths and English interventions.
• Have strong Literacy and Numeracy skills.
• Be able to support small groups of pupils effectively and adapt learning to meet individual needs.
• Be academically minded and committed to raising pupil attainment.
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be confident, proactive and able to work collaboratively with teaching staff.
• Be committed to maintaining high standards whilst fostering a positive learning environment.
• Have a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a good sense of humour.
