SEND Teaching Assistant - Autism Support | Blackburn

Are you a caring, patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Blackburn? We are seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school, providing tailored support to a pupil with additional needs.

This rewarding role will involve working closely with teaching staff to help promote engagement, learning and emotional wellbeing within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 classroom support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Assist with the delivery of learning activities and interventions
Support the pupil's social, emotional and academic development
Encourage independence and positive behaviour strategies
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other school staff
Monitor progress and provide feedback where appropriate
Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Requirements

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Classroom Support Assistant
Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is desirable
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
