A well-established mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual with experience in supporting students with diverse needs to make a meaningful impact on a student's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored, individual support to a student with SEN, ensuring their engagement and participation in lessons.
- Assist with managing challenging behaviour in a positive, constructive manner.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO and teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Support the development of the student’s social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Foster a safe, supportive atmosphere where the student can thrive.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience supporting students with SEN, including those with challenging behaviour.
- Strong understanding of strategies for managing behaviour and promoting positive learning.
- A patient, empathetic approach with the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing flexibility and initiative.
- Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
