Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a welsh speaking Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil in Year 3 integrating from a special school into mainstream. The pupil is in the English stream of the bilingual school therefore the ability to speak welsh is desirable but not essential. The pupil has been in mainstream since the beginning of the academic year and has progressed and has settled very well in mainstream.

 

Role: Learning Support Assistant

Pay: GBP57 per day including holiday pay, National Insurance and Pension Contributions

Area: Llanelli, Carmarthenshire

To cover: Sickness

 

Main responsibilities

-To support the effective transfer / integration of a pupil who has integrated from special provision.

- To provide structure, appropriate learning programmes for the pupil, with clear timescales and success criteria.

- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the pupils’  individualised support programmes.

- Encourage assigned pupils to participate in and actively engage in activities led by teachers

 

The school

The school, situated in Carmarthenshire,  is a dual stream primary school for pupils aged 3-11. There are six English-medium and four Welsh-medium mainstream classes, with mixed age groups in most of the classes. There are over 250 pupils on roll, with a small percentage coming from Welsh speaking backgrounds. At present 15 pupils receive support in English as an additional language and some pupils are looked after by the local authority. Attached to the school is a special educational needs centre, which comprises of two Foundation Phase assessment and observation classes, a language unit and a key stage 2 class for pupils with severe learning difficulties.
