Learning Support Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Worthing, West Sussex

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Full-Time
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with Autism at a welcoming and supportive school in Worthing.
This role involves providing tailored support to a non-verbal child with Autism, helping them access learning, develop communication strategies, and feel safe and supported throughout the school day. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to implement personalised strategies that promote engagement, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism within the classroom environment
- Support the child with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning activities
- Use visual aids, structured routines, and communication tools where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff
- Encourage positive social interactions and participation in school activities
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teaching team
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children with Autism or additional needs (school, care, or support setting)
- Be patient, empathetic, and consistent in their approach
- Have a strong understanding of supporting non-verbal communication (e.g., visual supports, PECS, Makaton – desirable but not essential)
- Be able to build positive relationships and trust with pupils
- Be reliable and committed to a full-time role, Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
