Teaching Assistant (Intervention Support)
Location – Newport (NP19)
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 – 15:30
Start Date: Monday 8th September 2024
Pay: £11.85 per hour
We are currently working alongside a primary school based in Newport to recruit 2x Teaching Assistants to provide intervention support to several children across the school. We are looking for one position to support children across Year 1 to Year 3 and another to support across Year 4 to Year 6.
The roles will entail providing Literacy and Numeracy support to small groups of children where you will be required to deliver high specific activities. The aim of the role is to assist with the development of children who need the support the most.
Key Responsibilities
- To engage pupils in small groups and identify learning needs such as language, reading, spelling, handwriting, numeracy skills, social skills, or behavioural skills.
- Liaise with teachers to plan and develop a programme for pupils with identified literacy and numeracy difficulties
- To deliver reading and numeracy intervention programmes
- To promote the children’s self-esteem and confidence
- Liaise with the class teacher to update targets as and when needed
- Maintain records of each child whereby you may be required to provide written reports and appropriate feedback
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced child only DBS certificate registered on the update service
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council
- 2 Professional based references
- Level 2 Safeguarding Course (free via TP)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
