Welsh-Medium Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport (Welsh-Medium Primary School)
Contract Type: Full-Time (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker with a passion for education and supporting young learners? Teaching Personnel is proud to partner with a fantastic Welsh-medium primary school in the Newport area to recruit a Welsh-Medium Teaching Assistant (TA).

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the education sector and make a real difference by leading interventions with small groups of children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Welsh-medium interventions to small groups, focusing on areas such as reading, writing, verbal communication, and phonics.
• Support reading fluency and literacy development.
• Adapt learning programmes to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
• Assess, record, and report on student progress with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Prepare intervention plans and contribute to students’ social and emotional well-being.
• Work across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) as required.
• Follow school policies on child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
• Collaborate with staff and attend teaching assistant (TA) briefings.
• Assist in delivering the Welsh curriculum and support the school’s ethos.

Requirements:

• Fluent Welsh speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills in both Welsh and English.
• Proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
• Ability to pass enhanced DBS checks (eligibility to work in the UK required).
