A school in the high peak area are currently looking for a learning support assistant to start after February half term till the summer. The position is mainly working with students with autism, who require additional support during school.

The school offer a range of additional training and development but are looking to invest in a candidate that can prove their ability in terms of support and behaviour management in the special needs sector. Location of the school also provides a range of access with several means of transports available to get to the new mills area.

They will be requiring the candidate to work closely with the teaching staff in order to help progress the students who require that extra support and attention that’s needed to help with the school’s progression. 

Key points to the learning support assistant role –

  • £350-£450 dependant on experience.
  • Rewarding opportunity to help the students develop and progress through their school life.

  • Producing resources for students to engage with.
  • Helping full time teaching staff in monitoring student behaviour.
  • Providing students with small group/1:1 support when needed – this includes those with complex needs (SEN, SEMH)
  • Offering pastoral support and guidance to learners across KS3 and KS4.

Desirable criteria –

  • Previous experience working in a similar environment.
  • Suitable qualifications or degree would be preferred.
  • Up to date DBS certificate and suitable references.
