As a SEN TA you would be working closely with students who require additional support in a variety of different school lessons. When working with students that have special needs, you are responsible for making all work assessable according to the needs of each individual whilst also working on both academic and social skills. You may be responsible for delivering individualised learning as directed from teacher.

You may be asked to support students with some of the following needs:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD & SLD) 
  • Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)

A lot of students have additional difficulties such as speech and language impairments, physical disabilities as well as anxiety. 

Key skills and experience needed:

  • Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools or Pupil Referral Units
  • Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour
  • SEN experience is essential
  • Experience with 1:1and small group work
  • Professional manner

Qualities required are discretion, loyalty, commitment, patience, flexibility, good personal organisation, firmness, to be numerate and literate, a team worker and to have good oral and written communication.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
