Job description

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our inclusive and nurturing school community. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

About the Role:

  • Work closely with children with autism on a 1:1 or small group basis, providing tailored support.

  • Support pupils in accessing learning, developing communication, and building social skills.

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver personalised strategies and interventions.

  • Create a safe, structured, and predictable environment that supports pupils’ emotional wellbeing.

  • Use visual supports, sensory strategies, and communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton) as appropriate.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children or adults with Autism.

  • Is calm, patient, and adaptable to individual needs.

  • Understands the importance of routine, structure, and clear communication.

  • Is a team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Is passionate about inclusion and believes in the potential of every child.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Knowledge or experience with TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration approaches.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
