Job description

Learning Support Assistant - Graduate position

Bolton / Bury / Salford Opportunities Available

We’re offering a unique opportunity for psychology graduates to step into a role that will make a real difference in the lives of young people. This isn’t just another job — it’s a chance to gain hands-on experience in a specialist school, where your skills and passion will be put to work supporting students with a range of complex needs.

We have roles available in Bolton and Bury, and both full-time and part-time options are available to suit your schedule.

In this role, you’ll be working with students who face challenges such as autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. It’s a job that requires patience, empathy, and creativity — but it’s also deeply rewarding. You’ll play an integral part in supporting these young people to engage with their learning, develop their social and emotional skills, and ultimately succeed in ways that are meaningful to them.

This is an ideal position for psychology graduates looking to gain practical experience before pursuing further training or careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, therapy, or social work.

What the role involves:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students inside and outside the classroom

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individual learning plans and behaviour strategies

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe and supported

  • Working closely with a team of teachers, therapists, and support staff

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in psychology or a related field, or currently studying towards one

  • A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs

  • A calm and adaptable approach to challenges

  • No prior experience required — we’ll provide full training and support

What we offer:

  • Competitive pay of £89.35+ per day, paid directly (no agency fees or umbrella schemes)

  • The opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a specialist educational setting

  • Full-time and part-time positions to fit your availability

  • A supportive, collaborative environment where your input is valued

This role offers a chance to be part of something meaningful — supporting students who need your help to thrive in a school environment. If you’re passionate about working with young people and eager to learn, we’d love to hear from you.
