Full Time Lead Science Teacher

Are you a qualified Science teacher looking for a full-time Leadership role in September, supporting the wider leadership team and students within a STEM subject across the academy?

Do you want to make a difference to young people by creating a positive and engaging learning environment within Science?

We’re looking for Fully Qualified Science Teachers to work at a secondary school close to Avonmouth to begin in the new academic year. This school is fully comprehensive, with a strong commitment to the students’ wellbeing, positive learning environment and sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Science department, promoting improvements in teaching, learning and overall outcomes
  • Model outstanding classroom practice and provide mentoring and coaching to colleagues
  • Deliver targeted CPD and interventions that raise attainment and close gaps
  • Champion inclusive, evidence-informed teaching approaches for all learners
  • Support the wider leadership team with curriculum development and strategic planning
  • Be a visible and approachable leader, fostering a love of Science across the Academy
  • Encourage a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and guide to support their personal and academic growth.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism or strong background in Science and Leadership roles.
  • Can design and deliver effective CPD, mentoring and coaching for staff
  • Strong behavioural management skills, including knowledge of SEND, with effective/adaptive strategies.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a range of lessons in different school settings.
  • A valid Enhanced child only DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with staff and students
  • The want to inspire students to reach their full potential with a positive attitude and patience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
