Lead Practitioner of Chemistry – Westminster
Salary: £59,478 - £62,024 per annum (Lead Practitioner Scale 1-3, Inner London)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: Negotiable
Location: Westminster
Employment Type: Teaching Staff (KS3 to KS5 Chemistry)

About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Chemistry teacher to join their academy in Westminster as Lead Practitioner of Chemistry. This is an exciting opportunity to provide outstanding teaching and learning experiences for pupils, leading on the improvement of teaching standards and student outcomes across the department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Play a highly visible leadership role in improving teaching and learning within the Chemistry department

  • Ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement

  • Monitor, evaluate, and review standards and provision in the subject area

  • Collaborate as a member of the Lead Practitioner team to realise a shared vision of excellence

  • Provide accurate and relevant performance information to the Governing Body

  • Support academy and federation-wide initiatives and policies

  • Deliver outstanding lessons and ensure staff subject knowledge is exemplary

  • Contribute to curriculum development, behaviour management, and the broader school life including break, lunch, and after-school duties

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant undergraduate degree

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

  • Outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management skills

  • Experience conducting lesson observations and providing constructive feedback

  • A proven track record of raising student achievement through innovative strategies

  • Strong background in tracking pupil progress and providing high-quality feedback

  • Proven excellent results at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience desirable)

  • Ideally, experience working across more than one school and with governance bodies
