Early Years Teaching Assistant (Level 3) – Newton Aycliffe
Opportunity available through Teaching Personnel
Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming primary school in Newton Aycliffe that is looking to appoint a Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant to support their Early Years provision. This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about helping young children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning during the early stages of their education.
You will become part of a supportive Early Years team, contributing to a positive classroom environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and ready to explore new ideas through play and structured learning.
The Role
As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will support children across Nursery and Reception, assisting the class teacher with daily activities and helping to deliver engaging learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting children during group learning, play-based activities, and daily routines
• Assisting the teacher with preparing and organising learning resources and classroom areas
• Encouraging children’s communication, creativity, and social development
• Observing children’s learning and contributing to developmental records where required
• Helping maintain a calm, structured environment where children can learn and explore
• Supporting pupils with transitions, personal care, and day-to-day classroom routines
• Ensuring safeguarding and health and safety procedures are followed at all times
What We’re Looking For
Teaching Personnel is looking for someone who understands the importance of the Early Years stage and can provide consistent, nurturing support to young learners.
The successful candidate will have:
• A Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or Supporting Teaching and Learning
• Experience working with children aged 3–5 years in a nursery or school environment
• A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
• A patient, supportive, and organised approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
