KS1 Teaching Assistant – 12-Month Maternity Cover

Start: November 2026
Duration: 12 months
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Working day: 6.5 paid hours with a 30-minute lunch break
Pay: £14.25 per hour, paid weekly

We are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to cover a 12-month maternity leave within a fantastic primary school from November 2026.

The role will be based within a KS1 classroom, providing general classroom support and working closely with the class teacher to ensure pupils are engaged, supported and making good progress.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing general classroom support within a KS1 class
• Delivering phonics groups and interventions
• Supporting pupils with English, Maths and wider curriculum activities
• Adapting learning and teaching approaches to suit individual needs
• Providing targeted support for pupils with speech, language and communication needs
• Working with individuals and small groups to bridge gaps in learning
• Helping to create a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom environment

Who We’re Looking For

This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Teaching Assistant or a newly qualified TA looking to secure a consistent, long-term role within a supportive primary school.

To be considered, you must:

• Have previous classroom support experience
• Hold a Teaching Assistant, Childcare or relevant equivalent qualification
• Be confident supporting children within the primary age range
• Have an understanding of phonics and early literacy development
• Be able to adapt your approach to support pupils with speech and language needs
• Be nurturing, patient and enthusiastic about helping young children succeed
