Are you looking to gain classroom experience as a Learning Support Assistant?

If so, Teaching Personnel are looking for SEN teaching assistants for a secondary school in Winchester offering a full time role starting soon with the potential to go on teacher training via the school in September for the new academic year (2023).

This will be brilliant for a graduate who is a passionate individual with a great interest in working with children with severe learning difficulties and ASD?

The role is working in the classrooms across various subjects alongside the teacher supporting students with their learning and generally supporting them and building report and mentoring them. The headteacher needs someone who is confident and passionate about working with children with special educational needs and will help students reach their full potential.

Key Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in psychology (2:2 or above)
  • Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
  • Have strong subject knowledge within English Maths and Science (GCSE A* - C)
  • Be passionate about supporting children with their learning
  • Be able to keep children engaged and motivated
  • Be enthusiastic, friendly, and approachable
  • Have a commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities
  • Be resilient, fast thinking and adaptable to different environments.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the class teacher to support children who need support in the classroom.
  • Supporting children with an EHCP alongside the SEN team
  • Leading sessions outside of the classroom with children both 1-1 and small groups
  • Planning and resourcing intervention sessions
  • Working alongside other professionals to assess children
  • Supporting children pastorally to enable them to feel safe and secure both at school and at home.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
