KS1 Teaching Assistant – Year 1

Morecambe, Lancashire

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class in a welcoming primary school in the Morecambe area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with young learners at a key stage in their development, supporting them with early literacy, numeracy, and social skills in a nurturing classroom environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and structured lessons
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for Year 1 pupils
  • Assist with phonics sessions 
  • Help pupils develop early reading, writing, and maths skills
  • Promote positive behaviour and classroom engagement
  • Prepare classroom resources and support learning activities
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children (preferably within KS1 or Year 1)
  • Knowledge of phonics and early learning strategies (desirable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent – desirable)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • References covering the last 2 years
