Join Our Team as a Behaviour Mentor – Treorchy
Location: Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Pay: £13.75 per hour / £83.85 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-time (term-time only)
Are you resilient, confident, and passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? We’re currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive specialist setting in Treorchy.
About the Role:
You’ll be supporting pupils aged 7–11 who are currently unable to attend mainstream education due to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, medical conditions, or a diagnosis of autism. This setting offers a nurturing, structured environment tailored to meet the needs of pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support.
Your Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage in learning

Support students in developing positive behaviour strategies and coping mechanisms

Contribute to behaviour support plans and intervention strategies

De-escalate challenging behaviour and use appropriate intervention techniques (including physical intervention if trained)

Work as part of a dedicated and experienced team of Behaviour Mentors and staff
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
-
Has experience working with children with SEMH, autism, or similar additional needs
-
Is confident in managing challenging behaviour and setting clear boundaries
-
Can build meaningful, professional relationships with pupils
-
Is dependable, proactive, and team-oriented
-
Ideally has experience as a TA, HLTA, Youth Worker, or in a similar support-based role

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
