ICT Technician - Preston School

A specialist school on the outskirts of Preston are seeking an ICT Technician, 3 days per week.

The school caters for pupils from ages 4 to 16 with SEN. Most experience moderate learning difficulties but some have other and additional learning difficulties and disabilities that include behavioural, social and emotional difficulties, specific learning difficulties and autistic spectrum conditions.

The role will be Mon, Weds and Fri, 8:30am - 1:30pm. You will ideally be able to start ASAP until Oct half-term, initially.

A typical technician role will involve:

- Maintaining the school's network

- Installing new software and upgrading existing applications

- Providing technical support for teachers and pupils

- Running diagnostics

- Maintaining and developing the school's website and intranet

- Maintaining hardware peripherals (e.g. scanners, printers, external drives)

- Ensuring internet systems are safe and offer full child protection

Skills and experience you'll need:

- Knowledge of operating systems, networking, hardware and software commonly used in schools

- Good problem-solving skills

- Good organisational skills

- The ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users

- The ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines

- A patient and methodical approach

- The ability to work alone or as part of a team

- An awareness of health and safety

The school has very close links to the M65, M6 and M61!
