HLTA Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant

HLTA Required for Special Educational Needs (SEN) School

Long-term role

Temporary to permanent basis

We are working with a Pupil referral unit (PRU) in the area who are looking for a Specialist SEN Educational Needs Teaching Assistant.

The school provides education and support for students for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who have left mainstream education. The school supports pupils aged 12 - 19 years old. Group sizes are small and include a teacher and support staff.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools
  • Previous experience supporting children or adults social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • Passionate about re-engaging pupils in their education
  • Ability to support pupils across all subjects, particularly core subjects; English, Maths, Science to GCSE or functional skills levels and vocational subjects.

Ideal candidates:

  • An interest in sport, music or being creative
  • Previous experience working in Pupil Referral Units
  • Graduates and aspiring teachers
  • A subject specialism
