HLTA

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

A primary Waltham Forest are looking for a HLTA to support learning across their Year 3 and 4 classes from September until February 2021. Please read on for more details on the role and how to apply!

The SLT have decided to restructure their PPA cover due to some extended staff absences, and therefore need someone who can perform general TA functions for most of the week, but can also confidently take the two classes to cover the teacher’s PPA time. This role would be ideal for anyone with aspirations of becoming a teacher who wants to get as much experience in classrooms as possible.

The school is rated as GOOD by Ofsted and is a warm, friendly environment to work in. They are very supportive of young staff members with teaching aspirations and provide opportunities for the role to continuously grow. Therefore this booking is highly likely to be extended further into next year depending on the candidate’s success in the role. The school is easy to travel to by car or public transport.

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • OR Final Year Student/NQT/Graduate.
  • Experience in KS2.

The role involves general class TA duties for most of the week, primarily in Year 4 but also in other KS2 classes if required, so the candidate should be flexible in this sense. This would be general support by ensuring that the class is following and engaged in the teacher’s lesson plan. It will also regularly involve taking smaller intervention groups on specific topics they might be struggling in, particularly English and Maths, so experience leading interventions in the past would be useful.

These lessons will cover 2 afternoons a week, and could potentially grow to more if the school is happy with the progress. The behaviour in both classes is on the whole very good, but the Year 3 class does have some boys who can at times be distracting, so a firm approach is sometimes needed. The role would also occasionally involve covering other classes temporarily should there be a high number of staff absences.

If you are keen for this role then please hit apply and submit an up-to-date CV. We at Teaching Personnel will then be in touch with you, before liaising with the school to organise interviews and trials for selected candidates when possible.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
