Higher Level Teaching Assistant

The Headteacher and Governing Body of a Primary School in Preston are keen to secure a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to cover across five year groups across four days per week. The school are looking for a practitioner who is keen to join their welcoming team and take the next step in their career. The role is to begin as soon as possible and will continue until July 2020 with the potential of a contracted role.

The Headteacher is well respected by staff, children and parents and holds an excellent reputation within the local area. The successful applicant will be provided with a full induction and introduced to all staff members. The Headteacher has an open door policy and is always open to new ideas to develop best practise across the school, she is keen to secure a practitioner who will contribute towards this and be committed to upholding the whole school ethos.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience working alongside children with special educational needs and be confident differentiating to suit varying abilities. Excellent behaviour management is essential. HLTA status is NOT essential however would be advantageous.

Responsibilities will include:

• Differentiating for the various needs of the pupils, and teaching accordingly
• Assessing, monitoring and recording progression
• Creating a safe and engaging learning environment
• Managing behaviour effectively
• Providing feedback to parents or carers, where necessary
• Undertaking continuous professional development
• Contributing to the wider life of the school  
• Covering Classes from Year 1 – Year 5 (KS1-KS2)

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status
• Child workforce DBS on update service or willing to apply for a new DBS
• Experiences across the primary phase
