Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently supporting the recruitment of a History teacher on behalf of an Ofsted graded ‘Good’ secondary school located in Bolton.

Due to an upcoming maternity leave within their Humanities department, the school wish to appoint a History teacher ahead of April 2020.

This is a 12-month temporary post, where the incoming History teacher will lead a timetable consisting of both KS3 and GCSE History classes.

  • Ofsted graded good Roman Catholic secondary school located on the outskirts of Bolton town centre
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS dependant on experience

This school has consistently achieved Good Ofsted gradings throughout previous Ofsted reports and have a strong and experienced management team in place. Pupils make above the expected progress levels and pupil behaviour is described by Ofsted as ‘very well during lessons as they show the utmost respect for staff’.

The Head of Humanities hopes to appoint a History teacher who can stretch the learning of their pupils and can consistently provide engaging practice. The ideal applicant will already have a track record of delivering outstanding practice and will be able to inspire pupils to reach above and beyond their expected grades.

History teacher requirements;

• Ability to teach KS3 and GCSE History – All specialisms considered for this role

• Be available on a full-time basis from April 2020  

• Be fully committed to taking on full teaching responsibilities inclusive of parents evening and departmental meetings

This is a highly reputable school which consistently achieve excellent examination rolls and pupils who achieve expected progress is well above average. The school holds a strong catholic ethos, although it is not essential that you are catholic to be considered for this position, applicants must respect the catholic ethos. Located a short drive from the M61 motorway and has direct access to central Manchester. There are just over 1200 pupils on roll in school with an average number of pupils speak English as an additional language.
