As part of our growth strategy, Teaching Personnel are working with a brand new SEND Secondary School in Redhill, Surrey for young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students “every opportunity to achieve”.
Key Accountabilities:
- Act as a role model and support the development and improvement of individual and site practice.
- To assist the Pastoral Lead to coordinate the effective implementation of the Positive Behaviour Policy.
- To provide rapid response to the school staff when a child is in need of additional support in crises.
- To monitor and report on students in and out of class.
- To provide a physical presence on the school site during the school day, especially during breaks and lunchtime.
- To liaise with parents/carers on behavioural issues.
- To assist the Pastoral Lead with behavioural training to staff and student information through CPD.
- To provide therapeutic support to students who are struggling to engage with classes and staff in cooperation with the clinical team with the aim of re-engagement in class.
Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school.
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- Commitment to the role, the desire to put the child/young person first and treat them as an individual
- Proven ability to solve problems quickly and decisively and able to stay calm in a crisis/emergency situation
- Be positive and creative in meeting young people's needs
- Work on your own as well as part of a team
- Work collaboratively with other employees and professionals with good interpersonal skills
Candidates must:
- Hold a HLTA qualification
- Have a good level of written and verbal English and general education as well as IT skills to support our students' learning plus GCSE pass C or above (or 4 in new GCSE system) in English and Maths.
- A relevant professional qualification or the ability to gain a qualification in behaviour management
- Have the empathy and resilience to work with young people some of whom may experience high anxietyand a range of special educational needs.
- Be committed to becoming a neuro-informed and a neuro-affirmative practitioner. That requires continuous engagement in learning and a genuine belief in a neuro-affirmative approach.
Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
