Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Job description
A pupil referral unit in Manchester is currently looking to hire new and experienced HLTAs for an immediate start. The school works with students that are currently out of mainstream schooling due to a variety of social, emotional and mental health needs, and are within specialist education due to their individual needs that require additional support from staff.
Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of the students
- Lead small group sessions and 1:1 interventions to ensure all students are progressing at a good rate
- Assist in assessing and monitoring students and provide feedback based on this
- Implement individual learning plans for students in collaboration with the class teacher
- Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to support the development and progression of each student
Qualifications and experience
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience working as a HLTA
- Experience working with primary aged students, preferably in a specialised setting
- Experience with challenging behaviour and confident in managing this
- Commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting children
- Some experience leading classes in the absence of a teacher
- Able to give good and comprehensive feedback to enhance development of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
