Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school to recruit an ambitious and experienced Head of Science to lead a dedicated team of subject specialists. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner with a proven track record of strong outcomes to take the next step in their leadership career.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving standards across the Science department, teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 and supporting students of all abilities to achieve success at GCSE level. This role is particularly suited to someone who is committed to inclusive education and has experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through creative and adaptive teaching approaches.
You will join a collaborative and motivated team, working alongside leaders who are committed to continuous school improvement and delivering the best possible outcomes for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Science department, driving high standards of teaching and learning
- Deliver engaging and effective Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Monitor and improve student progress and attainment across the department
- Support and develop colleagues within the team
- Promote inclusive teaching practices, particularly for students with SEN
- Model outstanding professional standards and contribute to the wider school community
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge across the sciences
- Proven track record of delivering ‘good’ or better teaching and strong student outcomes
- Experience or readiness to take on a leadership role
- Commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for all learners
- Skilled in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including SEN
- A collaborative, proactive, and inspirational leader

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
