Head of School – Wolverhampton

Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: Depending on experience
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Start Date: Immediately

We are looking for an experienced and inspirational Head of School to lead an independent educational setting in Wolverhampton. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced education leader who is passionate about supporting young people, particularly those with SEN and additional needs, and helping them achieve positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership across teaching and learning, staff development, safeguarding, curriculum delivery and day-to-day school operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong and effective leadership across the school.
  • Inspire and engage pupils, helping them achieve their educational and personal ambitions.
  • Lead, support and develop teaching and support staff.
  • Oversee the quality of teaching and learning across the school.
  • Ensure effective delivery of core subjects including English, Maths and Science.
  • Monitor pupil progress and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Support pupils with SEN and additional needs, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, wellbeing and pupil support.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant educational regulations and Independent School Standards.
  • Work closely with staff, parents/carers and external stakeholders.
  • Identify challenges proactively and implement effective solutions.
  • Promote equality, diversity, wellbeing and British values throughout the school.
  • Manage leadership responsibilities alongside curriculum oversight, staff development and compliance requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant subject area.
  • QTS, QTLS or recognised overseas equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience within an educational setting, such as Head of Department, SLT or Headteacher level.
  • Experience managing and developing staff teams.
  • Strong understanding of teaching and learning, particularly across English, Maths and Science.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN and additional needs.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and educational compliance.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both pupils and staff.

Desirable:

  • NPQH or currently working towards NPQH.
  • Experience within alternative provision or a similar educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Independent School Standards and the alternative provision sector.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
