Teaching Personnel are looking for a Head of Geography and History (Maternity Cover)

Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield Contract: Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover) Start Date: as soon as possible

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Sutton-in-Ashfield is seeking a Head of Geography and History to lead its dedicated Humanities team during a maternity cover period. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership role, even if you haven't held one before.

About the Role:

As Head of Geography and History, you’ll oversee curriculum planning, support a team of committed teachers, and help drive forward standards in teaching and learning across both subjects. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a forward-thinking department and make a real impact on the student experience.

  • A skilled teacher of Geography or History 

  • A reflective practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to continuous improvement

  • Someone ready to take on responsibility, with a collaborative and proactive approach

  • Organisational skills and the ability to support and inspire colleagues

Contract Type: Maternity Cover (full-time)
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner if available
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (depending on experience)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
