Are you a Graduate seeking a new opportunity in a specialist SEN School?

Do you want the opportunity for continuous professional development?

A special school in Burnley are currently looking to expand their team of teaching assistants. The school caters for pupils with additional needs including Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Speech, Language and Communication Needs, and Autism. Pupils are aged between 2 and 19, with a Nursery, Primary and Secondary department.

The school are looking for someone who will have a flexible approach and be able to adapt in different circumstances including the possibility of moving across teams or school sites.

The successful candidate will:

Commit to helping each child to reach their individual potential

Be able to support pupils in developing practical and social skills

Have a positive outlook and share an enthusiasm for the job

Each pupil at the school has an appropriately paced and differentiated curriculum based on their own individual needs and as well as working with pupils in the classroom, you may be required to participate in off-site activities such as swimming and trips out.

Experience of working with children is not essential but you must have a positive, can-do attitude and be driven to provide a high quality of life and support to young people with SEN.

We often recruit graduates from varying backgrounds including Nursing, Psychology, Education, Sociology, Theatre / Drama and Sports. We also welcome candidates who have graduated in core subjects to support the needs of more able students in accessing exams / qualifications, including pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties.
