Graduate work in Special Needs Schools in Rotherham

Have you recently graduated and are wondering what the next steps for you are? Are you interested in making a difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?

(Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant, Support Assistant)

Teaching Personnel are looking for Graduates to work in schools in Rotherham that provide specialist support to children with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and the difficulties associated with this. We have opportunities in both Primary and Secondary schools and it is a great way to try new things before settling where your preferences lie!

Children with ASC typically have:

  • Behavioural disturbances
  • Deficits in language comprehension
  • Delay in learning to speak
  • Difficulties with social interaction

You will support these children in and around the classroom to make the most of their time in school as well as promoting their personal development and building strong trusting relationships. It is such a rewarding environment to be in and you will be supported by a welcoming team of staff. The schools take pride in helping you with the next step of your life. You will have an SEN Specialist Recruitment Consultant who will give you expert advice on your journey.

Things you will need:

  • A relevant degree, many are included in this! Educational ones, Psychology, Sports
  • School based experience or prior experience supporting individuals with additional needs (including voluntary work)
  • A DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to get one)

We run termly courses- such as Team Teach (teaching positive behaviour management and identifying triggers) and Moving and Handling (teaching safe movement of children in and around school)- which are recognised in schools. Pay is weekly and based on skills and experience, teaching assistants are typically paid between £57-£65 per day.
