Graduate Teaching Assistant - Wigan

Are you a graduate looking at getting into secondary teaching?

Have you often thought of gaining PAID experience as a Teaching Assistant beforehand?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious and passionate graduate to become a Teaching Assistant at a well performing and inclusive secondary school in Wigan. This is a full-time temporary role, starting in October, with a view to needed for the full academic year!

The secondary school located in Wigan is part of a reputable educational trust in the North West and is very supportive of graduates looking to peruse a career in secondary teaching.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support secondary aged pupils (11-16) in small groups and on 1:1 who are identified as falling behind or require additional support with their studies.
  • Provide tuition in your specialist subject/degree and spend some time in that department.
  • Providing general classroom assistance to teachers (activity/lesson planning)
  • Opportunity to cover lessons in the absence of class teachers - great way to gain classroom and behaviour management skills.

Key Aspects of the role:

  • Teaching Assistant - Graduate Scheme
  • Full-time (term time) - starting October
  • Earn £1140 per month!
  • Placed in a reputable and supportive secondary school in Wigan
  • Located off the M58 and M6 - 10 min drive from Wigan town centre, or on public transport.
  • Previous experience in a similar role / working with young people is very desirable.
