Have you just finished your university studies? Are you thinking of pursuing a career in education? Would you be the right person for a job where you can make a difference to young people who need extra support?

Our client secondary school located just outside of the City Centre and with easy access from the M4 are looking to appoint 2 Teaching assistants to start after the Christmas break in January.

*This is a perfect opportunity for any graduates looking to start a PGCE in 2024 to gain classroom based experience*

  • 2 x Full time Teaching Assistant position starting in January

This is a mixed secondary school for 11-19 year olds with around 1000 students currently on roll, located just outside of Cardiff City Centre. The school is easily accessible via a range of public transports links as well as great links by road. The school is a specialist in supporting with Additional learning needs and challenging behaviour. The schools senior leadership team have the drive to develop all aspects of the school and promote career development and promotion from within. For the successful Teaching Assistant, the school will look to equip you for a career in education but giving you different opportunities to work with a range of ages and abilities.

Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Supporting identified students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Building relationships with the pupils to keep them motivated and raise attainment
  • Providing support to pupils who may struggle to integrate within mainstream classes due to their challenging behaviour or additional learning needs
  • Build a rapport with the pupils and liaise between teaching staff and the pupils

In the past we have found that people from various backgrounds have been well suited to this type of role due to the individual requirements of the pupils; Sports Graduates/Coaches, Psychology Graduates, Education Studies Graduates, Art/Drama Graduates and Core subject graduates have all been successful in these roles previously.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
