Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a graduate looking to get your foot into the education sector? Are you a current student in lockdown looking to get a head start? Teaching Personnel are looking for graduates to work with a client special school based in Cardiff as a specialist teaching assistant working with special educational needs. Whether you are a psychology, criminology, sociology, music, drama or sports graduate we are looking for you!
The Role
You will be asked to work with pupils with special educational needs on a one to one or within a group basis, supporting the pupils with their everyday routine and keeping them engaged throughout the school day and on track to meet their daily learning objectives. Within SEN schools there is so much more that happens rather than the typical english & maths. You will support the teacher in the implementation of an adapted curriculum whilst supporting the pupils potentially in therapeutic aspects of learning. This can include; Hydrotherapy, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy & Rebound Therapy. Candidates will be enthusiastic and show the ability to use their initiative in situations that may challenge some. Previous experience working with special needs, personal or professional is both advantageous for the role but not essential. This is an ideal opportunity to gain experience for furture career aspirations.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a Psychology, Sociology, Music, Drama, Sports or Criminology degree qualified/pending or equivalent
- Have strong behaviour management skills
- Have an outgoing personality
- Be confident
- Show great resilience
- Have a passion for helping others

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
