Are you a graduate who is a prospective future teacher?

Are you looking to pursue a PGCE next year and therefore looking for further experience working within a secondary school?

Our client secondary school in the South Manchester area is looking for 2 strong, confident graduates to join them in September to work as a TA and Cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher as required. These roles are both full-time support roles where the appointed future teacher would start as a teaching assistant, supporting in the classroom. This would likely include supporting students in a variety of subjects gaining as much experience as possible across the age and ability range. The role would also include some cover of lessons as the term progresses and the passionate graduate gains more confidence. There may be the possibility of supporting on a part time basis so if you are due to be available for specific days, please highlight this on your application.

This school are specifically looking for enthusiastic graduates who can exercise good behaviour management skills within the classroom and ensure students stay on task as required. The prospective future teachers should therefore be motivated and flexible in their approach, willing to work across departments and have a real passion for working with young people at secondary school age.

Key highlights of the future teacher grad scheme:

  • Pay will range between GBP1350 - GBP1400 per month dependent upon responsibility and hours confirmed

The role of a teaching assistant will involve working with students in small groups and also on a 1:1 basis. Depending on what your degree specialism is in, there is the chance to provide specific tutoring to students in this subject and exercise your specialist knowledge.

The role of a cover supervisor is to deliver already set work to students within a classroom setting. The successful cover supervisor won’t be expected to plan and mark within this role but will work across departments as the school require.

The school is located in the South Manchester area, making it very easily accessible via the M56/M60 ring road. For those on public transport, the school is easily accessible via the tram link which services the school well.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
