Graduate/Trainee – SKiP Teacher Training Pathway
Location: Secondary School in Southport (North Liverpool Partnership)
Contract: Full-time (1-Year Initial), September Start
Salary: Based on experience/qualifications
Progression: SKiP Teacher Training (Year 2)

Overview:
A secondary school in Southport is seeking a graduate to join its SKiP (School-based Initial Teacher Training) programme. Starting as a Cover Supervisor, this two-year pathway offers a fully supported route to achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with the option of a PGCE.

This is ideal for someone passionate about education, eager to gain in-school experience, and committed to becoming a qualified teacher.

About the SKiP Programme:
SKiP is a hands-on, school-embedded teacher training route. Trainees work alongside experienced staff while progressing toward QTS and, potentially, a PGCE through a partner provider.

Year 1: Cover Supervisor Role

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across various subjects

  • Maintain behaviour and classroom standards

  • Support with admin, interventions, and classroom activities

  • Build confidence in leading a class

  • Receive mentoring and CPD to prepare for training

Year 2: Teacher Training (SKiP)

  • Begin subject-specialist training (e.g., Maths, English, Science)

  • Receive regular mentoring, lesson observations, and feedback

  • Teach a reduced timetable while developing skills

  • Work towards QTS and potentially a PGCE

  • Fully participate in school life and curriculum delivery

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree (minimum 2:2); preference for core subjects

  • Passion for teaching and education

  • Excellent communication and organisation skills

  • Ability to motivate and engage students

  • Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset

  • Commitment to a two-year training journey
