A well-established and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Geography Teacher to join its successful Humanities faculty from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed educator to deliver engaging and impactful lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The school welcomes applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs). A structured induction programme and high-quality professional development will be offered to support new colleagues in their teaching journey.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality Geography lessons that inspire curiosity and develop students’ understanding of the world.

Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, following the national curriculum and departmental schemes of work.

Plan, assess, and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners.

Track student progress using assessment data and provide timely interventions.

Maintain a well-managed, inclusive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and learning.

Work collaboratively within the Humanities department to develop resources and share best practice.

Contribute to school life beyond the classroom, including field trips, extra-curricular activities, and enrichment opportunities.

Take part in regular professional development and contribute to the wider school community.
Candidate Profile

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is currently completing training (for ECTs).

A degree in Geography or a closely related subject.

Passionate about Geography and committed to delivering engaging and meaningful lessons.

Strong classroom management skills and a positive, proactive approach to student engagement.

Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.

Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities and school initiatives.

Reflective and committed to ongoing personal and professional growth.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
