A thriving and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a fully qualified, enthusiastic, and dynamic Geography Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role with full teaching responsibilities.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will inspire and motivate students to develop a strong understanding and appreciation of the world around them.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated Geography lessons that meet the needs of all learners.

  • Mark and assess student's work regularly and constructively in line with school policies.

  • Monitor and track student progress, providing timely interventions and feedback.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, whole-school CPD, and collaborative planning.

  • Contribute to the development of the Geography curriculum and enrichment activities.

  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and academic achievement.

  • Engage in pastoral duties, including form tutoring and supporting students' well-being.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all students.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.

  • Demonstrates a strong subject knowledge and a passion for Geography.

  • Has experience teaching Geography at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 minimum).

  • Possesses excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to raising standards.

  • Is a reflective practitioner with a drive for continual professional development.

  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative team.
