General Year 3 Teaching Assistant Role - GOOD Darwen Primary School

Level 2 Teaching Assistant required in an Ofsted GOOD School in the Darwen area.

You must have experience working in a Lower KS2 class and be able to use your initiative to further develop children's understanding of the Curriculum.

There is a big emphasis on the development of Reading and Writing skills in schools due to the high number of EAL learners, it is therefore a necessity that you hold a GCSE C or above in English Language. You must also command a strong written and spoken English as well as the commitment to using new language skills across other subjects.

The school is currently graded as GOOD across all areas by Ofsted and the Senior Leadership Team are very focused on supporting the staff in school and developing good working relationships across school with parents and the children. Notably, the majority of children arrive in school working below expected levels for Maths and English and there are initial language barriers which hold back particular children in making better progress throughout school. The role you will undertake in school will begin on the 7th January and continue until July 2019. The Deputy Head teacher in school has mentioned that the role may then continue further into the next academic year. You will be expected in this role to work alongside 26 children in class, support grouped and individual learner needs with the class teacher. You will also be expected to undertake a number of administrative duties such as photocopying, displays and listening to readers.

The Head teacher is always keen to know the background of the teaching assistants applying, and so he will always ask for a full CV to consider. He will expect to see recent education based experiences as well as qualifications relevant to the role. In this case, you must hold a Level 2 Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent. Added to this, you must have some experience working alongside groups of/or individual children in lower KS2.

There are a good number of applicants who have already registered their interest in this role and so if you are interested I would ensure you act quickly and send over a cover email as well as an up to date CV. You will also be able to register your interest in the agency directly through the website.
