Job description

Graduate Cover Supervisor - Future Teachers Programme

Christchurch & Bournemouth | January Start | £23,000 - £27,000

Finished university and not quite ready to head straight into teacher training?

If you've ever considered teaching, but want to see what life in a school is actually like before committing to a PGCE, our Future Teachers Programme could be exactly what you're looking for.

We're working with a number of secondary schools across the Christchurch and Bournemouth area who are looking for graduates to join them from January as Cover Supervisors. It's a fantastic opportunity to gain meaningful classroom experience, build confidence working with young people, and discover whether teaching is the right career path for you.

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll step into lessons when teachers are absent and ensure students remain focused on the work that has already been set. You won't be expected to plan lessons or mark work, which means you can concentrate on developing your classroom presence, behaviour management skills and understanding of how schools operate day to day.

Many of the teachers we work with started exactly where you are now. They wanted to gain some experience before applying for teacher training and found that working in a school gave them the confidence and insight they needed to take the next step.

What can you expect?

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday
  • School hours, allowing for a great work-life balance
  • Salary between £23,000 - £27,000
  • Valuable experience for future teacher training applications
  • The opportunity to observe experienced teachers across a range of subjects
  • Access to CPD and training courses
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Weekly PAYE pay with no umbrella company involvement

Graduates from all subject backgrounds are welcome, including:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Psychology
  • Languages
  • Sport
  • Technology
  • Arts and Creative subjects
  • Or simply a subject you're passionate about

During your placement, you'll get the chance to learn how successful classrooms are run, support students with their learning, observe different teaching styles and develop skills that are highly valued both in education and beyond.

Whether you're hoping to become a teacher in the future or simply looking for a rewarding graduate role where no two days are the same, this is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door.

Interested? Apply today with your CV and we'll be happy to tell you more about the schools and opportunities available in the Christchurch and Bournemouth area.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
