About the Job:

This Special School are seeking an experienced care assistant who is confident supporting young adults with special needs in further education. They are looking for a someone who can inspire confidence in students and effectively assist with their care, learning development and independence skills. The job is full-time starting in September 2020 and will be based in the college’s Hillingdon site.

You will be a valued part of the team who work together closely to provide an educational environment to support, enable and champion the talents, skills and rights of the most complex and vulnerable young people in our society. You will make a difference supporting young adults with complex learning needs alongside the class lecturer and up to 3 other support assistants. You may need to support with personal care, moving and handling, feeding and/or medical administration.

This college is in the London Borough of Hillingdon and has been ranked as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. The college is a community-based specialist college offering educational opportunities for students over 16 years old with a wide range of special educational needs.

The college has purpose-built departments to effectively support students with medical, sensory, behavioural, and physical needs. Students learn both on-site and within the community in a range of areas such as apprenticeships, foundation skills for life and skills for work and living. This allows our students to have both academic and vocational pathways and increase opportunities once they leave college.

This specialist college in Uxbridge are seeking a professional who is:

  • Experienced or trained as a care assistant
  • Experienced and confidence supporting children and/or young adults with special needs
  • Available full-time from Sept 2020
  • Confident or open to supporting young adults with personal care (toileting), moving and handling (hoisting), feeding and/or medical administration
  • Confident supporting with academic learning and independence skills
  • Keen to challenge and build self-esteem in students with SEN
