Full-Time Behaviour Support Worker

Location: Newport, South Wales
Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year
About the Role
Are you confident, energetic, and passionate about helping young people develop into resilient, motivated, and successful adults?
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students across the school, working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create a calm, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
This is a hands-on, full-time role where every day brings variety and the chance to make a genuine impact. You will act as a consistent and encouraging role model for students aged 11–18, offering guidance and structure both inside and outside the classroom. You will build strong relationships with learners, helping them develop positive behaviour strategies, improve self-confidence, and feel fully supported in their education.
For young people who may be facing barriers to learning, your support can be the difference that helps them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Who We’re Looking for?
We welcome applicants who can bring:
- The ability to stay calm, kind, and approachable in challenging situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An understanding of the emotional and social needs of young people
- The ability to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or behavioural needs
- Relevant experience in youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles (desirable but not essential)
- Truly cares about helping children succeed, both emotionally and academically
Requirements
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- At least two professional references covering the past two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
