There is a strong emphasis on encouraging independent learning through practical participation, providing opportunities for students to develop a confidence and love of creating with food, as well as developing valuable life skills. This is an optional subject at KS4 and students study the AQA GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition course (8585). Option subjects have a little over 13% of curriculum time and there is usually at least one double lesson to support the development of high-level technical food skills.
